Heart on the Line (Black River Bend Book 2) Page 5
Kurt pried his thighs apart, exposing James’ cock and his thickening balls. He groaned when Kurt lowered his face into his lap and licked the cum off the tip of his cock. James curled his fingers into Kurt’s hair as Kurt started going down on him.
Kurt used his mouth, his tongue, and even just the right amount of teeth. In seconds, James got hard. Just when James was about to blow, Kurt lifted his head to look at him. Kurt licked away the droplets of cum that lingered on the corner of his mouth.
“That’s hot,” he said. “Why did you stop?”
“Because I want your ass. Right now.”
Kurt’s firm command nearly made James blow his load. He held his climax back, not wanting to ruin the good moment.
Kurt helped him down the counter and spun him by the shoulder. Kurt bent the front of his body over the cool fake marble surface.
He shuddered when Kurt ran his fingers down each knob of his spine. Kurt’s rough touch felt erotic and possessive. He squirmed when Kurt reached the cleft between his ass cheeks.
“Open up,” Kurt ordered.
He willingly parted his legs as Kurt played with his puckered hole.
“You ever played with yourself here, James?” Kurt squeezed his cock. “Don’t lie to me now.”
“Yes,” he admitted. “Last night I imagined it was you ramming your dick inside me.”
“I’ve gotten so fucking hard for you already, baby,” Kurt said by his ear.
Kurt kissed the nape of his neck, then squeezed his left ass cheek. James moaned into the counter. Being fucked over the counter wasn’t the place he imagined Kurt taking him for the first time but damn. Never before had James wanted anything so much.
“Need lube and condoms,” Kurt said, sounding impatient.
“Wait. Check the cabinet above the sink. Bathroom.”
He remained where he was. Kurt fetched the two items. Kurt soon returned. Kurt positioned himself between James’ legs. James heard the lube being uncapped and felt Kurt’s slick fingers in his hole a moment later. He moaned, pressing his cheek against the counter as Kurt worked one, two, then three digits inside him.
“I don’t like a piece of latex getting between us,” Kurt said. “I want to fuck you bare but we'll get to that next time.”
Kurt widening his hole felt so good. James could only respond with a groan. Kurt finally pulled his fingers away. He heard the condom wrapping tearing.
The next thing James knew, Kurt positioned his prick right into his entrance. He cried out softly as Kurt finally penetrated him. He clawed at the surface, breathing deeply as Kurt sheathed his dick inside him.
Kurt’s cock felt massive, capable of stretching the inner walls of his ass completely.
“You hurt?” Kurt asked him, sounding concerned.
“No, but please move.”
Kurt complied. The initial burst of pain disappeared as Kurt started to hammer his ass. Kurt started with slow and quick thrusts before picking up speed. Kurt reduced them both to pants and groans. Sweat coated his entire body.
Kurt was right. James’ body was going to ache tomorrow from sex and their workout earlier. But right now? James was full of energy.
With each push, Kurt seemed to go deeper, able to reach his deepest recesses, his most intimate parts. His soul. Could Kurt do that? Breach his walls and find his innermost self? It seemed possible.
James didn’t think much of sex before but with Kurt it was mind-blowing. Kurt introduced him to a whole new world, one where only desire and pleasure existed. The kitchen fell away from his line of sight. James would gladly cook for Kurt anytime in exchange for sex.
James gasped and arched his back. Kurt found his prostate.
“Please.”
James didn’t even know what he was begging for. He didn’t need to elaborate. Kurt seemed to understand. He whimpered as Kurt hit his sweet spot every single time.
Kurt reached between his legs and started stroking James’ dick while continually hammering him. The pressure building inside James broke wide open.
He came, screaming out Kurt’s name. James unloaded his seed into Kurt’s waiting hand. Kurt pumped in and out of him a few more times before reaching climax.
Kurt slowly pulled his softening prick out of him. James couldn’t stand. He was content to stay where he was, slumped over the counter. James’ entire body felt limp.
He was completely sated, happy beyond words. Kurt disposed of the condom and set him back to his feet. James swayed against him and Kurt held him close.
James vaguely remembered being in the shower and Kurt soaping and cleaning him up. Once they reached his bed, James collapsed into it.
“Join me,” he said, offering his hand to Kurt.
Kurt just flashed him that charming and sexy smile and slid into bed with him. Kurt pulled him close, careful of his shoulder. Kurt kissed the side of his neck and simply held James until James drifted off to sleep.

Kurt woke up at exactly five in the morning. He’d trained his body to wake up extra early every day. He opened his eyes. The sun hadn’t risen. He wasn’t alone in bed.
That was a first. James snoozed next to him. Asleep, James reminded him of an angel. This particular angel bore all the bite marks Kurt left on him yesterday.
Possession took hold of him. He’d broken his promise not to rush things with James but he didn’t regret it one bit, especially after hearing James wanted the same thing.
Kurt was supposed to head back to the gym, finish up some paperwork. He ended up staying at James’ place the entire day. He even slept over.
Kurt never did that before. With his one-night-stands, it was always a race to see who left the bed first. With James, he didn’t have the urge to flee like some coward.
Kurt tucked away the stray strands of hair that had fallen across James’ face behind his ear. James stirred but he didn’t wake. Kurt smiled to himself. Right after falling into bed, they woke up just in time for dinner.
They ordered pizza and watched one of James’ favorite Korean dramas. It hurt Kurt’s eyes to read the subtitles but it didn’t matter. All he cared about was spending more time with James.
Kurt pried himself from James, although he was loathed to do it. His phone was ringing. Kurt left the bed and found his cellphone in the pocket of his discarded jeans.
It was from Grey. Grey was like him, a retired fighter who decided to take up teaching. Kurt needed more good trainers like Grey.
He picked up. “What’s up?”
“Just got a little worried, boss. You didn’t return yesterday.”
Kurt looked over to where James was. James had taken up the entire space of the bed. He was amused.
James was a space hogger?
Kurt trained fighters during weekdays. On weekends, he usually stayed in the office to do some admin work. Kurt should get an assistant soon. His brother used to help him out but Travis found another job. That gave Kurt a new idea.
“I’m not coming in today either. You have the keys to the gym, just remember to lock up tonight,” He said.
“See you Monday then,” Grey said, ending the call.
He took a picture of James and decided to use that as his phone background picture. Since James made him lunch yesterday, maybe Kurt ought to do something about breakfast today.
Kurt checked the contents of James’ fridge. It didn’t contain much, but he found bacon and more ham in the freezer. No eggs. Maybe he could make a quick trip to the store. Kurt spotted a convenience store on his way here. It was maybe just a block away from James’ apartment building.
Kurt found the key to James’ apartment hanging on the hook by the door. “Just going to borrow this quick, baby.”
Kurt snatched the key and exited the apartment.

The smell of frying eggs made James’ stomach rumble. Eggs?
Probably a neighbor cooking breakfast. He peeled his eyes open. James groaned as he became aware of the sh
ooting pains in his body. Kurt warned him about this, he remembered. James hadn’t exercised in a long time, so he was bound to feel like crap.
Speaking of Kurt, did yesterday happen? His ass also ached, so that was a good sign. It took James maybe five minutes to sit up and finally stand. He walked past the partition and froze. Kurt was behind the stove, wielding a spatula and wearing the clothes he wore yesterday.
“Morning, sunshine,” Kurt said, beaming up at him. “I could wake up to this sexy sight every single fucking day.”
He blushed, covering his dick for no reason at all. It wasn’t like Kurt had an eyeful of him yesterday.
He rushed to the bathroom to get a change of clothes, then remembered his body wasn’t working that well. James groaned as he took a few steps forward. Kurt was there, grasping his arm, letting James lean on him.
“Take it easy,” Kurt said.
“I feel like shit,” he admitted.
“Rest today. No strenuous activity. My orders. After breakfast, I’ll make a quick stop at my place. There’s this nice cocoa butter ointment I use on sore and abused muscles. It works miracles.”
James could barely process Kurt’s words. “Breakfast? Ointment?”
He looked over at the kitchen counter. His stomach growled. There were sunny side eggs on one plate, french toast on another, and a third that had a small mountain of bacon. His mouth watered.
“You cooked for me?” James asked.
“Just payback for yesterday, baby.” Kurt kissed him on the cheek.
Just like that, James completely forgot he was embarrassed and naked. He didn’t have any ingredients in his kitchen so Kurt probably went out and made him all this while he was sleeping.
Could he ask for a better boyfriend?
Hold on a second. Could he even call Kurt his boyfriend when they’ve only been on two dates?
His heart thudded against his chest. Kurt said he was new at dating but he was doing a stellar job so far.
What if it was James who ended screwing things up between them?
No. James told himself last night while they were watching his Korean drama that he’d stop worrying and simply accept the present.
Binge-watching shows alone with his cat felt so much different than having someone right next to him. Kurt didn’t even complain or made fun of James’ love for Korean dramas, even if Kurt didn’t get the hype.
“There was also the mention of cocoa butter,” he said.
Kurt laughed. “That’s right. I’m going to make you lie down and rub them into your joints. Better not tempt me.”
He swallowed. What did James do to deserve this man?
“I’ll try. Um. I need to put some shorts on,” James said.
Kurt helped him to his shorts. He felt a little embarrassed. Here was James, acting like he was injured or incapable of dressing himself up when all he had was some muscle pain. Kurt didn’t seem to mind. They grabbed the food from the kitchen and settled down to eat in the living room.
Feeling hungry, James tasted everything. He widened his eyes at the first bite of Kurt’s French Toast.
“You said you didn’t know how to cook. Now I feel a little ashamed for yesterday’s lunch,” James commented.
“Don’t be. That’s the only thing I’m good at making. French toast is Travis’ favorite.”
He finished his toast and grabbed another. “You raised him after your dad died, didn’t you? It must’ve been tough.”
“Travis was mature for his age,” Kurt said. “If I remember correctly, you were an only child, right? No brothers or sisters?”
He nodded. “My parents are still living here but we aren’t close. They were always travelling when I was growing up.”
“Must be lonely. At least I had Travis.”
“They provided me with what I needed,” he said with shrug. “I never went hungry but you’re right. I did feel alone most of the time. Maybe that was why I was happy to leave Black River Bend. I wanted a new start somewhere.”
“What happened after you left town?” Kurt asked him.
“I got my degree. Ralph and I moved in. Our relationship ended after I lost my job. I couldn’t get another job with the economy the way it is. I ended up back here,” he said. “My life’s not that exciting.”
“Maybe fate landed you back here for a reason,” Kurt said, expression intense. Serious.
“You might have a point there,” he admitted.
James was getting better at this talking thing. It was easy to speak his mind when Kurt was next to him. He set his plate down and he groaned. The simple motion sent a bolt of pain up his arm.
“Do you feel like this every time you work out?” He asked.
“Only when I do intense workouts. Your body’s not used to exercise but it’ll get better soon,” Kurt told him.
“You were an up-and-coming fighter,” he said, thinking back to what the knew about Kurt. “What made you give it all up to become a coach?”
“I couldn’t keep running the gym when I was moving from place to place to fight,” Kurt said. “I asked myself what was more important to me—fame or keeping my dad’s memory alive?”
“Wow. That must’ve been a hard decision to make.”
“Yeah, it was the right thing to do. I also busted my shoulder pretty bad in my last fight. I don’t regret my decision,” Kurt said with a smile. “Because if left Black River Bend, we wouldn’t be able to meet again.”
8
James let out a throaty moan as Kurt rubbed more cocoa butter ointment over his calves. Kurt paused from his task. Damn, but Kurt’s cock got hard just from that sound. He moved his hands upwards, from James’ lower right leg to James’ thigh.
“This is some good stuff,” James said.
James only wore boxers, which was super convenient. James let out what sounded like a contented sigh. At this rate, Kurt would end up sliding into bed next to James and straddling him.
He’s still sore from last night, Kurt reminded himself. This was exactly what James was able to do to him. Reduce him to a savage who only wanted to sate his urges.
“Why are you so quiet?” James asked as Kurt moved to his other leg.
“You’re distracting me,” Kurt gritted out the words. “Turn over.”
James obeyed. Kurt put his hands over James’ tense back muscles and began to massage them.
“I’m a really a very lucky boy, aren’t I?” James teased.
Kurt chuckled. He finished James’ back and leaned over to kiss James on the mouth. He liked how James had grown comfortable with him.
When Kurt came over unannounced yesterday, James acted so awkward and shy around him. Kurt was making good progress. He wanted to know James better, hang out more. Create new memories.
James sat up.
“Slowly,” Kurt chided.
James sat next to him on the edge of the bed.
“Thank you for doing this,” James said.
“My pleasure.”
“I wasn’t even sure I could go back to work tomorrow. No, I hoped I didn’t have to go in,” James admitted. “Does that make me sound like a coward?”
Kurt reached for James’ hand and squeezed it. “No. It’s understandable, given what you’ve gone through. It’s not a night shift, right?”
Kurt got a little pissed after hearing James sometimes overworked himself. James only laughed it off and said it was his fault, because he was a pushover.
A pushover? No way. James was simply kind-hearted and his manager took advantage of that.
“Nope,” James said. “Daytime. I’m worrying over nothing.”
“Sheriff Starr also sent some of his guys to patrol that neighborhood more often,” Kurt said.
He wanted to cover all the bases. Make sure James never had go through another traumatizing experience. Kurt intended to swing by during James’ lunch break.
Maybe he’d bring James something good to eat. Kurt remembered there was a great sandwich place a block from where James
worked.
“That’s amazing,” James said. “You didn’t have to do all that for me.”
“I wanted to. Besides, Sheriff Starr loves this town as much as I do.” Kurt paused. The next part was a little hard. He knew James had plenty of pride. Would he be offended if Kurt offered him a job? “I don’t want you working at Happy Mart anymore.”
James’ blinked at him, then he curved his lips to a frown. Shit.
“What?”
This was going to lead to a fight and Kurt knew it. He had to choose his next words carefully. “You have a degree in marketing, don’t you?”
“Uh, right.” James looked stumped as if he didn’t expect Kurt to lead with that.
“I’ve been looking for a good assistant, someone who’s good with computer and marketing stuff. Travis helped me awhile back because I couldn’t afford to pay someone but the gym’s earning decently now,” Kurt paused. “Would you accept the job, James?”
“You want me to work for you?” James asked.
“It’s not like it’s the best job in the world,” Kurt said with a scoff. “Travis said I was an awful boss but I do need the help and I prefer someone I could trust. Look, I’ll treat you like any other job applicant. Send me your resume.”
James thought about it for a few moments. “It would be nice to be able to put what I’ve learned in college to good use. Ok, I’ll email my resume to you but promise me one thing.”
“What’s that?” Kurt asked.
“No special treatment just because you’re my boyfriend. If a better candidate comes along, hire him or her instead of me.”
Kurt had every intention of hiring James but he didn’t tell James that. If James worked closely with him, then Kurt could keep an eye on James all the time.
He didn’t need to worry about some asshole with a gun coming after James again. Besides, Kurt was possessive by nature. He’d go insane if James kept working at Happy Mart.
“Alright,” Kurt paused, going over James’ words in his head. “You called me your boyfriend.”
James’ entire face turned scarlet. “I—I didn’t mean to. The word just slipped out.”
