A small town boy moving into the big city is a dream come true for shy teacher Remy Carlson.

Dreams are good until reality rams its ugly head. Barely able to make rent, Remy believes it’s too good to be true when he’s offered a tutoring job by the city’s most eligible billionaire bachelor and alpha werewolf Ethan Drake.

Remy’s swore to keep to his professional boundaries. He adores Ethan’s daughter, and couldn’t imagine a more perfect job. But after growing up stifling his dark desires, Remy longs for something different. Handsome and enigmatic, demanding and domineering, Ethan might be the one man Remy’s been looking for.

Intrigued by the quiet and reserve tutor he hired for his daughter, Ethan finds his wolf wants to mate Remy badly, regardless of the consequences. Barriers come down during a single

  Chapter One

Remy Carlson nervously checked his appearance on his phone camera. This wasn’t a lot

he could do with his clothes and hair, so he combed his fingers through his short auburn hair to smoothen out the tangles. Remy’s white button-down shirt and plain black jeans were far from designer, but it had to do. Remy had just moved from the small town of Pine Creek—population just over three thousand, to New York just a month ago.

He didn’t exactly have the time or budget to shop when he could barely pay his monthly rent. Remy had always dreamed of moving out of Pine Creek once he got his teaching qualifications. Making a decent living in the city turned out to be a different story. Teaching posts had been filled out for most schools. The only reason Remy had this interview for a private tutoring job was because of his best friend and roommate Trish, who had lived in New York for a number of years and had a couple of connections.

Stepping out of the subway and heading to one of Upper Manhattan’s pricey neighborhoods, Remy started having jitters and self-doubts. From the snotty looks and upturned noses he received, Remy knew he didn’t belong here.

“I can do this,” Remy muttered to himself, stealing quick look at the elevator numbers.

“Worse thing that can happen? Mr. Drake won’t hire me, but at least I survived the interview.”

Besides, Remy badly needed the job. To supplement his income, he acquired a few jobs.

He worked at a hardware store during the day, and at night as a waiter at the nearby diner a few blocks from the crappy apartment Trish and he shared. The hunger to remain in the city and not to slink back home in defeat, made his take on a part-time job, but Remy’s passion had always been to teach kids. He came to New York to teach and make a difference, not to take orders.

Remy stepped out of the lift, patted the professional leather satchel containing his documents, and headed for Ethan Drake’s unit number. He didn’t know much about his employer. What Remy knew came from gossip and tabloids. Voted one of New York’s most

eligible bachelors, Ethan Drake became a millionaire in his early-twenties after running a successful start-up. He was bitten by a werewolf during one of his business travels in Asia, but Ethan didn’t let being a shifter interfere with his work.

Married twice, about to have his third divorce, rumors said Ethan was more interested in quickies and one-stand-nights rather than suffer through another relationship.

The more intriguing tidbit that interested Remy though? Ethan played for both teams, and didn’t give a damn whether it was a gorgeous lean male model on his arm or some minor actress, or a centuries old vampire or incubus.

It didn’t matter he was a lone alpha werewolf. Men and women flocked to his wealth and looks like flies. Working for a werewolf employer might frighten some, but Remy grew up in a town that had embraced the presence of the supernatural after their big reveal twenty or so years ago.

Normally, Remy stayed away from dangerous men like Ethan. Not that it would be a

problem. At twenty-three, Remy remained awkward as he had been at sixteen. Remy might have lost the pimples and the extra weight, but he still lacked the confidence. Ethan’s only redeeming quality would only be his eight-year-old daughter Miriam, the girl he scouted the best mathematics tutor in the city for.

Remy was about to press the doorbell when the front door opened, revealing a pissed-

looking and model-thin blonde in a cream-colored designer suit.

“Sorry,” Remy murmured, quickly stepping out of the way. His heart beat in trepidation.

Was the blonde another tutor prospect? What did Ethan Drake say to end the meeting in tears?

  “Excuse me!”

The blonde paused, rubbing at her ruined mascara-lined eyes.

“Are you also here for the tutoring post?” Remy asked.

The woman scanned his appearance from top to bottom, before giving his a scathing and

self-satisfied look. “Don’t bother wasting your time, handsome. Ethan Drake will eat you up and spit you back out without a second glance.”

Then she turned and headed for the elevators.

Remy’s stomach churned. Feeling uneasy, he stared at the elevator. Some part of him had been annoyed at the blonde’s flippant remark. Remy didn’t consider him self a weak man by any means, but maybe the woman had a point. He felt out of place in his sneakers, standing on the rich red floor carpeting of the corridor, and being surrounded by the rich walnut paneling and expensive wallpaper—and this was merely the corridor interior of the apartment.

“Mr. Carlson?” A deep and amused masculine voice asked, stirring Remy from his thoughts.

Remy turned to the speaker, and decided he wouldn’t let anything else intimidate him.

Not the place, or the rich asshole standing in front of him, except catching sight of Ethan, his cock perked inside his pants.

He had seen hundreds of photos of Ethan Drake. In fact, not a week went by when he

appeared on the cover of some tabloid with a new platinum blonde Barbie or gorgeous Adonis on his arm each time.

The photos didn’t do him justice. Close-up, standing almost at six-feet, Ethan practically towered over his 5’4” frame like some immense Greek God. Heck, he had the features too.

Broad-shouldered, every inch of him layered in muscle under his designer suit.

“Um. Wow. Hi.” What? What kind of idiot said those three words to a potential employer?

  Ethan’s sea
green eyes crinkled at the corners, and his generous lips curved into a secret smile, probably amused by his reaction, although Remy didn’t doubt he knew he wielded same effect on most men and women.

In his mind’s eye, Remy already began to imagine him shirtless. All that gorgeous bronze skin exposed, each hard muscle and line defined. Those powerful hands closing over his arms, effective as any restraint as Ethan lowered those sinful lips to suck at his neck, collarbones, nipples, then his abs. Then he’d dip his hand lower, to jerk down his zipper, draw out his hard and thickening member….

“Found something you like, Mr. Carlson?” Ethan asked, his voice tinged with slight

  amusement.

Underneath the teasing though, Remy heard something else—something hard, wild, and

firm. Ethan’s eyes hinted at the same thing. He pinned Remy in place with one scorching look alone, making Remy feel naked and exposed, even though they were both still dressed and were total strangers to each other

Jesus Christ. This man, this werewolf, was dangerous. Remy’s entire face flushed red. He nervously chewed on his lower lip, wondering when was the last time he had reacted this strongly to any man. Remy drew up a blank. In the end, fantasies were all he had been capable of.

He wasn’t a virgin by any means. Remy had been with a few men in his life, even dated a werebear once. He wasn’t sorely lacking in experience, but he had a feeling playing with Ethan was like playing with fire. One single misstep and he might end up getting burned.

“Mr. Carlson, I asked you a question.” Ethan’s tone sounded more like a demand than a

question, so Remy had to respond.

To Remy’s chagrin, all he managed was a weak mumble. “Yes, that’s me. You can call me

Remy. I’m here for the job interview, Mr. Drake.”

Maybe reminding Ethan about the reason he was here would place things back on track.

Surely, a man like him wouldn’t waste his time teasing an average looking guy like Remy. Ethan would have better use for his skills.

“By all means, please come in, Remy. And you can call me Ethan.” Ethan held the door

  open for him.

Remy found himself glancing back at the lift where the blonde just left, and back to the smoking hot man inviting him in. For a moment, he considered the coward’s way out, but it was ridiculous to back out now.

Swallowing his nervousness, Remy entered. A quick look around the lavish apartment

told him Ethan’s place was nothing out of the ordinary. Modern and contemporary, like most of the living rooms Remy had seen on the covers of posh interior design magazines. Certainly nothing that would ring alarm bells in his head.

“Would you like a drink, Remy?” Ethan asked smoothly.

“Yes, please. “ Remy settled on the leather couch, and rubbed his sweaty palms on his

jeans. He resolved to not let his man rattle him. Remy came here for a job interview. Nothing else.

  “What would you like?”

Tongue-tied, Remy froze from pulling out his files in his satchel. “Um.”

“A bottle of beer perhaps, to calm your nerves?” Ethan suggested.

Relieved, Remy nodded, accepting the bottle Ethan handed him. Ethan sat opposite his,

crossing his legs and gave his an expectant look. Did he want Remy to start? Well, fine. It infuriated Remy a little why every little thing he did seemed to amuse Ethan.

“Will your daughter Miriam be joining us?” Remy asked.

Ethan looked surprised. “No, Miriam’s currently at a friend’s house, doing homework. It surprises me you’d ask that first.”

“Why? I think any eight-year-old would like to meet the guy who’d torture her with

numbers,” Remy joked. Ethan didn’t laugh exactly, but his lips curved to a hint of a smile.

“Most of the tutors I’ve interviewed seem to be more interested in me rather than my

  daughter,” Ethan pointed out.

That explained a lot, Remy thought, remembering the blonde who ran out in tears. “Well, let me assure you the last thing I’m interested in is a potential employer. I’ve made a photocopy of my documents for you.”

Remy slid the sheaf of papers across the coffee table, taken aback when Ethan’s large

hand closed over his. He breathed hard, feeling the warmth and roughness of them. Those were the kind of hands he expected from a man who knew hard work, not a self-made millionaire.

“There is no need. I’ve looked through the resume you’ve sent to my personal email. I

must admit, Remy, I almost cancelled your appointment because some of the applicants I’ve received had more impressive qualifications and experiences.”

As if eight-year-olds needed Ivy League tutors, but Remy didn’t point that out. Besides, if he had the money, Remy wouldn’t hesitate getting the best for his own kid.

“I’m aware of that, but can I ask why you agreed to see me anyway?” Remy asked

  curiously.

“The photo on your resume intrigued me, Remy. Meeting you in person, was an added

  and unexpected bonus,’ Ethan murmured,

Remy nervously pulled back his hand. What did Ethan mean by that? Thankfully, the

conversation went back to why Ethan needed a tutor for Miriam in the first place.

“Miriam’s always been a good student, up until my unfortunate divorce with my wife

Leslie.” Ethan kept twisting his ring finger, where a wedding band once rested.

Remy didn’t know why he stared at the white line there. Why Ethan being single and

available would be his concern when Remy had a personal policy never to date his employers?

Remy once dated a fellow teacher in the previous high school he worked at, and look where that led him. The worse part wasn’t being found out, it was the two years of awkward silences in school halls and during teacher conferences.

Ethan though, was on a completely different league from Ted and even if he got this job, the stakes were much higher. Remy didn’t think he could stand doing odd jobs like being a waiter or working at the hardware store again. One positive recommendation from Ethan Drake could land him more tutoring gigs.

“Well, looks like I’ve heard all I needed to hear. Will you be able to start this Friday?”

Remy had to process Ethan’s words twice, before they sunk in.

“I’m hired?” He asked dumbly. Remy had expected more questions regarding his qualifications and teaching experiences. He even practiced in front of a mirror the night before to ensure he appeared confident and professional. If he brought up his concerns though, Ethan might have second doubts and he really wanted this job.

“Unless you’re waiting on other job offers?” Ethan asked.

“No, of course not. Thank you, Mr. Drake. You won’t regret this,” Remy quickly said.

Ethan held out hand, which he shook. He didn’t let go immediately. His breath caught in his throat when Ethan tightened his grip. Not to the point of point, but enough to make Remy feel uncomfortably aware of how close they were.

“Don’t make me say it again, Remy. Call me Ethan or—,” Ethan mused.

“Or?” Remy prodded, suddenly wishing he didn’t when a knowing smile spread on Ethan’s lips.

Ethan left that thought hanging. “I don’t wish to scare you off. Have a good evening,

  Remy.”

Ethan gently nudged Remy out of the apartment. Remy paused, wanting to find out what

exactly he missed, but decided against it. Besides, Ethan might change his mind about hiring him, and Remy couldn’t have that.

  Chapter Two

Ethan loosened his tie in irritation, his sour mood lifting when he caught sight of Remy and Miriam at the dining table busy at work. He placed his brief case down, not surprised to see neither his daughter or her tutor had noticed his arrival. It had been a good choice hiring Remy.

He had been tutoring Miriam for only a month, and Miriam’s aca
demic results had remarkably improved. Even better, Miriam seemed to like Remy. He’d never seen his daughter this excited about his studies either.

“A month. Damn,” Ethan murmured under his breath.

Finally, Remy tore his attention from the textbook on the table to look up at him. He gave him a brief nod of acknowledgement, before returning his attention back to Miriam, who asked his another question.

Had it only been four weeks since he hired Remy? It sure felt longer. Since the first time he saw Remy, both Ethan’s human half and beast half knew they wanted to mate Remy. Not wanted, but had to have and he didn’t think a single encounter would make the cut. Each time his wolf caught a whiff of Remy’s scent—a mix of soap, mix, and cigarette smoke, Ethan’s jeans felt a lot tighter and it became a lot harder to rein in his beast.

Worse, Ethan kept imagining what the tempting and sexy young man naked and without

that stuffy looking button-down shirt and jeans. Hell, it was odd the way Ethan had been drawn to the little details.

His mind kept going on overdrive and his wolf went nearly insane with lust. Ethan

wanted to know how it would feel ripping Remy’s shirt apart and sending the buttons flying so Ethan could unveil the lean planes of his chest.

Even better if Ethan could shove Remy against the wall, take out his hardening cock and taste Remy’s arousal on his tongue. Oh, Remy was certainly interested in him, but the tutor seemed to value his professional ethics more.

How rare to find that in anyone these days. Ethan knew Remy sometimes stole secret

glances at him whenever Remy thought Ethan hadn’t been looking. Nothing like the bold and arrogant looks single men and women usually gave him. The cocks and pussies he met at clubs and parties, and took to hotels only to leave them in the morning. No. Remy had a strange innocence to him, or rather an untouched purity and shyness that intrigued and fascinated Ethan.

The doorbell rang, and Ethan barely managed to react in time to catch Miriam running

  straight to his arms.

“That must be Mrs. Hills, papa.” Miriam gave him a toothy grin. She had on her usual

overnight pink backpack, the one she usually brought over for sleepovers, and matching pink pajamas under her coat.
