It was the first time Kurt had seen Seth look shaken. Kurt would piece together what happened. Guy mentioned Seth and him had been texting lately.
Once Guy realized Seth was just digging for information, he stopped all communication with Seth. James must’ve saved Seth’s life during the robbery.
“What the hell just happened?” He asked James.
“I’ll tell you everything later,” James said, pressing a kiss to the size of his jaw. “But one thing’s for certain.”
“Hmm?”
“I don’t want to work here anymore.”
“Does that mean you accept my job offer?” He asked.
“Yeah,” James said, resting his head on the curve of his shoulder. “If you’ll have me, that is.”
Kurt chuckled. “Baby, you’re mine already. Did you forget?”

“I know the computer’s old, but I still can’t afford to replace it,” Kurt said, sitting on the edge of James’ desk. “Next month maybe.”
Travis complained about the machine always hanging and shutting off. Kurt should really adjust his budget and get new office supplies instead of gym equipment for a change.
“It’s good enough for my workload,” James said, opening a couple of files on his screen. James finally glanced at him. “If you keep looking over my shoulder, I won’t get any work done. You’re so distracting. I mean that in the nicest way possible.”
“Hmm.” Kurt knew he should leave James alone to his work but it was hard to do.
There had to be boundaries between them, or Kurt wouldn’t get anything done. His and James’ office was only a single room with barely enough space for two men and two desks.
Kurt would mostly be spending most of his time downstairs, in the gym area. Still, it comforted Kurt to know James was up here. Available. Safe. He didn’t need to worry about some bastard pointing a gun at James again.
Two weeks had passed since the Happy Mart incident. Gage told him Mulligan would be behind bars for a long time for the numerous robberies he’d committed. James handed in his resignation right away but he still had to serve his two-week notice.
Kurt used every excuse he could find to swing by the store over the last fourteen days. Kurt was being overprotective and they both knew it. James never complained once though. James’ manager finally consented to hiring a security guard but that didn’t change anything. Even before Kurt offered James this job, James hadn’t been happy working there.
“Have I ever told you I’m proud of what you did in the store?” He asked James. “Few people would try to take down a criminal to save Seth’s ass.”
James rolled his eyes. “You did. Plenty of times.”
They still continued their self-defense lessons once a week. James had also gotten fitter and started taking better care of his body. James no longer ran out of breath after a couple of laps in the gym.
“That’s right.” Kurt hooked his finger under James’ chin and leaned in for a kiss.
James clutched at his shoulders as Kurt thrust his tongue down James’ throat. Kurt trailed his fingers down James’ chest but James playfully batted his hand away. Message received. They had all the time in the world, Kurt reminded himself.
Kurt pulled away.
“No sex in the workplace. That’s one of your rules, remember?” James said.
“That rule applies to the other employees, not the boss or his assistant,” he pointed out.
“You have a class to teach in like, five minutes,” James said unhelpfully.
James memorized his schedule, no surprise there. They were truly opposites. Kurt hated to plan and organise but James had created a system immediately after his first day of work. James was exactly what his business needed.
Who ever said love couldn’t exist in the work place?
“I can miss it.” Kurt pretended to look thoughtful.
He was joking of course. James knew it, but it was fun arguing back and forth like this. Kurt never had that with anyone before. It was nice. Kurt couldn’t imagine a life without James.
“No you can’t. These classes are what pays the bills.” James reminded him unhelpfully. “You can do whatever you want to me tonight.”
Kurt raised an eyebrow. They’d both been busy over the past two weeks. James agreed to move in with him, so they could save up on rent.
Well, that had been Kurt’s excuse. He just wanted to spend more time with James. It seemed like a logical choice, since James was practically living with him. James even stored some of his clothes and belongings at Kurt’s apartment.
The move only took a day, since James didn’t have much stuff at his old place. Kurt didn’t realize how wonderful it felt, waking up every single morning to James’ sleeping profile.
James was still a bed hogger, so Kurt replaced his old single bed with a king-sized one, much to James’ delight. He also offered to throw out any of his old furniture that James didn’t like.
“Fine,” Kurt finally said. “I’ll back off. For now.”
He wasn’t that devious. Kurt would give James some space.
“You have that evil glint in your eye again. Should I be scared?”
James should be. Kurt intended to fuck James rough and hard tonight. James wouldn’t be able to walk straight the next morning. He planned on throwing a romantic dinner in the mix. Kurt already had a menu in mind, one which included all of James’ favourite food.
Kurt extracted himself from James’ desk and headed for the door.
“Kurt?”
“Miss me already?” Kurt loved to tease James.
“I love you.”
Kurt stood there, rooted to the spot. Unbelievable warmth filled his chest and travelled to the rest of his body.
A few weeks ago, Kurt didn’t think he’d ever be able to say those three words to anyone. He always bragged to Preacher and Travis how he’d never settle down.
Kurt had been certain that there wasn’t a single man in the entire universe who was able to tame or change him and yet here he was.
Happy. Rooted.
James was his present and his future.
He gave James a lazy smile. “Love you back.”

James hurried back to Kurt and his apartment. It still felt strange calling the place theirs, but he was slowly getting used to it. Kurt left work early today, probably to surprise him once he got back.
James spotted Seth crossing the street. Crap.
This was a small town, James reminded himself. It was bound to happen, but after the Happy Mart incident, Seth never made an appearance in their lives again.
Seth stopped trying to enter the gym as well. Both Kurt and him assumed Seth had moved on, or was out of the country, trying to forget what happened.
Seth spotted him. James debated turning back and pretend he didn’t see Seth.
“James, wait up!” Seth called.
Too later. James took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for Seth’s incoming barrage of verbal assault.
“I wanted to thank you for saving my life back at the store.”
James certainly didn’t expect to hear those words from Seth. He became tongue-tied.
“I know I acted like a dick but I’m working on changing myself. I want to be a better person,” Seth said.
James privately wondered if this was some kind of practical joke. He studied Seth’s earnest face and realized some good came out of the robbery after all.
“So you’re um, doing well?” James asked lamely.
“Oh yeah. I’m seeing someone now. He’s been really good to me. Supportive.” Seth cleared his throat. “Its Dave actually.”
That news made him blink.
“Well, good for you,” he said.
Seth nodded. “See you around.”
James returned to the apartment, in a good mood. Today was strange. He opened the door only to see Kurt had prepared dinner.
His stomach growled as he locked the do
or behind him. Kurt was grinning. His boyfriend pulled out a chair for him.
Everything looked gorgeous—from the fancy maroon tablecloth, to the matching plates and cutlery.
“Oh my God,” he said, looking at the spread. “Carbonara, tater tots, pigs in a blanket and chocolate cake. These are all my favorites.”
They sat down to eat and James tasted everything. “You’re the sweetest boyfriend in the world, you know that?”
“I demand sex for food,” Kurt said with a smirk.
He blushed. “I did promise, didn’t I?”
“You did.”
James told Kurt about his run-in with Seth.
“With Dave, that goth kid who used to work with you at Happy Mart?” Kurt scratched his head. “Doesn’t seem like Seth’s type but what do I know?”
“I do remember Dave handing him that wash cloth for his bleeding face,” he said thoughtfully. “Dave offered to drive Seth home after.”
“I’m glad he moved on. Finish that last bit of pasta. We’re moving onto dessert.” Kurt licked his lips and James knew Kurt meant him.
“This chocolate cake does look amazing,” James said. He stood up, cut himself a slice but Kurt snatched the plate from him. “Hey!”
“I have a better idea. Follow me.” Kurt brought the cake to their bedroom.
James saw a pair of velcro lined cuffs hanging off the bed posts. “Naughty man.”
Kurt let out a sexy laugh. “Take off your clothes and lie down.”
James was out of his shirt, pants and underwear in seconds. He crawled into bed, laying on his back. Kurt set the plate of cake on the small table next to the bed and put the cuffs on his wrists.
“Didn’t know you were kinky,” James remarked.
“No, but I want you to stay in one place.”
Kurt peeled off his clothes. James got hard just looking at his sexy and buffed boyfriend. Kurt noticed. Smiling, Kurt took the plate of cake and swiped the frosting off with his finger. Kurt let him get a taste.
“This cake is from Annie’s Bakery,” he said with a moan. “You should’ve let me have an entire slice.”
“Cake beats sex?” Kurt asked in a shocked voice.
Kurt smeared more cake and frosting down the line of his body, then settled between his legs. He groaned when Kurt started eating pieces of cake off his body.
God. In a span of seconds, James’s prick went from half to full mast. Kurt didn’t miss a single spot. Once the cake was gone, Kurt licked and kissed his way down James’ chest and stomach. Reaching his groin, Kurt gave the tip of his leaking cock head a squeeze.
James groaned.
Kurt grabbed the lube from the small table and positioned himself between James’ thighs. Kurt hefted his legs above his shoulders and worked a generous amount of lube in his hole. James gripped the restraints as Kurt prepped him for access.
He had to admit, the cuffs excited him. James felt helpless, like Kurt was free to what what he wanted with him. Kurt had full control and he was all but powerless to take what Kurt chose to give. He trusted Kurt with all his heart. James knew Kurt would never hurt him.
Hell, Kurt came barging into Happy Mart without a second thought to save him. Again.
Kurt guided his prick into his entrance. James liked the fact Kurt didn’t bother with condoms. They both tested clean. Kurt’s bare dick inside his ass felt amazing, made sex so much more intimate. Kurt sheathed his cock inside James’ hole in one sure thrust.
James gasped. A burn started but Kurt started to fuck him slow and easy. James moaned as Kurt moved faster, went deeper with each turn. James started meeting Kurt for every thrust.
Sweat coated their bodies. Each time their bodies collided in the most intimate way possible, he felt like they were two parts of the same whole.
Soul mates.
Yep. That was the right word.
Kurt kissed him hard on the mouth and continued to ride him. James whimpered when Kurt gave the tip of his dick a squeeze. His mind shattered. James’ vision misted over. The dam inside him broke open. He came, painting Kurt’s six-pack abs and stomach with his jizz.
Kurt pounded him against the mattress a couple more times, before filling James’ ass with his warmth. James suddenly felt sleepy.
He closed his eyes, felt Kurt freeing his wrists from the restraints. Kurt must’ve made a quick trip to the bathroom, because he felt Kurt cleaning him up with a towel.
James opened his eyes. Kurt was gone again but he returned this time, with a new plate of cake. James sat up and held out his hands.
“Gimme. I get hungry after sex,” James said.
“Oh, I know.” Kurt grinned, handed him his cake and slipped next to him in bed.
“You’re just going to watch me eat?” James asked.
He took a forkful of the wonderful chocolate cake and then another. James had no shame. He’d eat that entire cake if Kurt didn’t want any.
“I’m just wondering how I got so lucky,” Kurt commented.
James licked the frosting off his lips. Then he gave Kurt a lingering kiss on the mouth. James didn’t need to say anything else. Kurt understood. James loved him with every fibre of his being. James had everything he needed.
