  “Oh yes, little Esper. You don’t need to worry about my responsibilities. I have the day off.”

  “Oh, she does. I think more than her own grandson.”

  “Wait, is that jealousy I hear?”

  Max pretended to huff and finished off his bacon. “I’m glad you made an extra batch.”

  “Well, I’m aware shifters eat more than human or Esper males,” Jack said, eying his chest, then licked his lips. It struck him how much Jack had changed. When they first met, Jack had a tendency to blush around him. Max was glad his mate was now bold enough to tell him what he wanted and was no longer shy about his desires.

  Max never had a humble bone in his body, anyway, and always liked the fact Jack appreciated his muscles. “What are you looking at, little Esper?” he drawled.

  “My glorious mate.” They finished up breakfast quickly and once the set the plates and cutlery on the sink, Max yanked at Jack’s shirt.

  “Off with the clothes,” Max said, practically growling out the words. “You’ve made me wait long enough.”
