He’d been traveling alone for so long and passing through dark roads so often he’d gotten himself foolishly lost, but vengeance couldn’t sustain a man. Certainly it was a piss-poor substitute for living.

  “I wouldn’t trade this for anything else in the world,” Nix said to himself, but he had a feeling Eli and Jen had been listening and wore secret smiles on their faces.
