  “Can’t have enough, can you, bastard?” Charity asked bitingly. “Do you get off on hurting women?”

  “Don’t make me remind you to watch your mouth,” London said tersely.

  Aubrey frowned. She’d seldom seen London agitated, yet within seconds of entering the room, Charity Vivaldi had quickly gotten to him.

  “What are you going to do about it?”

  London leaned against his chair, the line of his body filled with barely suppressed aggression, but Aubrey gripped his hand. He growled, blinking several times at her then realized Charity was baiting him.

  “I think we’ve all gotten off on the wrong foot.” Aubrey turned to face Charity. “Hi again. I hope you don’t take this too badly. We’re just here to do our jobs. Are you thirsty? Would you like something to drink?”

  Charity glared at her, then bit back a remark as Aubrey walked over to the water dispenser by the door and placed a plastic cup in front of her.

  “You,” Charity said softly. Since her hands were chained down, Aubrey pressed the water to her lips and she drank it all down greedily.

  “More?” Aubrey asked.

  She shook her head, and then said in a guilty tone, “I’m sorry for hurting you. Was it bad?”

  “I’ll heal. You’ve never done anything like this before, haven’t you? Kill someone I mean,” Aubrey said, leaning casually against the table.

  Charity’s vivid green eyes narrowed. “You think I’ll talk just because you’ve treated me with some measure of kindness? I’m not fooled by your young age or size. You’re more dangerous than him.”

  She jerked her head at London, who snarled at her. The air felt heated again, and Aubrey finally realized what the tension was. London’s wolf, she thought with shock, was attracted to Charity’s mountain lion.

  “You’ll talk,” Aubrey assured her. “Not because I’m manipulating you into talking, but because you’re terrified and desperate, and you want a way out of this.”

  Charity’s chest rose and fell. She studied Aubrey for a long time and her eyes lingered on the sunburst on her neck. “Just tell me this. Why is someone like you helping the Scavos wolves?”

  “Because I’m love with two of them,” Aubrey suggested and Charity let out a snort of disbelief. Damn it all. Why did Charity have to play on the enemy’s side? Aubrey suspected she otherwise would’ve liked the woman a great deal.

  “Enough. We will get to the questions,” London interrupted.

  Sensing his tone, Aubrey sat back down. She’d been around alphas long enough to know not to get in their way when they were truly pissed off.

  “Sure, I’ll answer your questions, but can you take these off? It’s hard to think with so much silver around.” Charity lifted her chained wrists. Aubrey thought that was a really weak blow. “Please? Where the hell would I run?”

  To her shock, London stood and fished out a key from his pocket.

  “Uh. London?” Aubrey queried. “What are you doing?”

  She glanced at the camera in the room—hoping those watching would know something was amiss—then back at London, who was taking off Charity’s restraints.

  Before she could do anything else, Charity sprung from her seat, snapped the cuffs on London’s wrists, and had both her hands around London’s throat.

  “You bastard,” she screeched, pushing him down on the table. London easily caught Charity’s wrists. Aubrey expected him to retaliate with violence, but he proved her wrong. She wasn’t sure what shocked her more. London greedily claiming Charity’s lips or Charity eventually caving in and responding back with the same ardent hunger.
