  “I think our dear Beta found a suitable mate indeed,” Doc said with an approving nod as he packed his gear. He ignored Alessio’s snarl of warning.

  “Don’t you have people to treat?” Alessio snapped, while Kelias stroked his arm, frowning at him.

  “Need a ride?” Doc asked, surprising Alessio again.

  “Yes, please. I don’t want Alessio shifting in this state,” Kelias said before Alessio could refuse. His fussy half-demon mate began putting on his clothes. The jacket with the logo of the Order on it, he left behind.

  “What the hell?” Alessio grumbled to Kelias as they walked out of the woods where Doc’s car was parked on the curb. He noticed Kelias’s gaze falling on the bits and pieces of Rayne’s decimated vehicle.

  Then Kelias turned on him, holding out a finger. “Someone needs to take good care of you, and that’s me. Don’t make my job hard.”

  Fuck, but Doc actually let out a chuckle as he handed Alessio spare sweats and jogging pants.

  “You and I have plenty to talk about once we get home, little demon,” Alessio warned. Doc didn’t mind them both riding in the backseat. Kelias snuggled close, and Alessio tucked his head against his shoulder, breathing in his scent. His next words were soft. “Baby, tell me those three words again.”

  “I love you, Alessio Esteban. You’re mine and I’m yours,” Kelias said, lifting his head to kiss him.

  Alessio released his lips, smiling. “Damn fucking right, baby.”
